Affordable & Excellent TWS Earbuds

Affordable & Excellent TWS Earbuds

I just finished my Pixel 9a review and raved about how good midrange smartphones have gotten. Now, I have the EarFun Air Pro 4 TWS earbuds in my ear holes, and I am amazed at just how good these new more affordable offerings are becoming. While many audiophiles may disagree with me, the general user isn’t going to notice that much of a difference between the affordable brands and higher end brands. EarFun has been doing great things lately, and the EarFun Air Pro 4 is evidence of this.

Estimated reading time: 10 minutes

The EarFun Air Pro 4 are a sub-eighty dollar set of TWS earbuds, and they have a lot going for them that the general user is going to fall in love with. These are earbuds for the masses, and they deliver what most people would want in a pair of earbuds. Let’s get into the full review of the EarFun Air Pro 4 TWS earbuds.

The Quick Take

This one is easy. If you want an excellent pair of TWS earbuds that are tuned with a bit more bass, but not so much that it rattles your brain. If you want good battery life, a nice-looking design, competent noise cancellation, and a price that isn’t going to empty the wallet. Well, the EarFun Air Pro 4 is a must for your short list.

  • App is useful
  • Sound Quality is good for the price
  • Great battery life
  • Price point is hard to beat

Needs work

  • A little bass heavy but can be adjusted in app
  • EarFun logo is too big on the case

Listen, the EarFun Air Pro 4 are tuned to what most of the public thinks music should sound like. The bass is pumped up a lot, but not so bad that it kills the mids and highs. The mids and highs are actually solid here, and I understand that most users like it bass heavy. So in that regard, I think most users will absolutely love these earbuds.

If you’re looking for more balance and less bass, then you might seek elsewhere. Though I will add that the EarFun Air Pro 4 app does have an EQ and you can choose different settings and customize your own. You can get a decent result with this app, but audiophiles may want more.

Overall, I think the EarFun Air Pro 4 are pretty remarkable for the price point and what is included. These are very comfortable, easy to use, sound good, and are less than eighty bucks. Most users can’t go wrong with them.

Design/Comfort

Let’s start with the EarFun Air Pro 4 charging case. Most of these TWS earbud cases are coming out looking the same. This one looks a lot like an Apple AirPods Pro case, except the lid opens differently. Otherwise, this case is about the same size and shape. The EarFun branding is on the top and the bottom includes wireless charging!

Opening the case up, the EarFun Air Pro 4 are front and center. The buds rest inside and there is a reset/Bluetooth button on the inside front portion.

Pulling the earbuds out of the case, you’re greeted with a familiar aesthetic, AirPods Pro. Yes, these look like Apple’s earbuds, but not exactly. The design is subtly different, but close enough to confuse them with Apple’s earbuds. Although, these are black and not white, so less confusing.

The ear tips are very comfortable and fitting the EarFun Air Pro 4 into your ears is easy with no discomfort. There are touch controls on the stems, more on that in the next section.

Overall, yes, these are very much made to look like Apple’s ear buds, but I don’t mind at all. They look great and even have a two-tone coloring. The case looks good too, though I wish the EarFun logo were smaller or maybe a logo with just the E and F in it?

Ease of Use Features

Using and setting up the EarFun Air Pro 4 is straightforward. Download the EarFun app and then open the case up. The phone will detect the buds and prompt you to connect. The app will let you know if there is a firmware update, in my case, there was. Do the update and then you’re ready to go.

There are also touch controls on the earbuds and below is what to expect from those controls.

Overall, these are straightforward to use and setup. The longest part of setup was doing the firmware update. But once that was out of the way, easy-peasy.

App/Software

The app isn’t needed to use the EarFun Air Pro 4, but it is recommended for not only things like EQ but for firmware updates. The app has a lot of customization, from the equalizer and updates to customizing the controls and switching to Game Mode for a better gaming sound experience.

EarFun Air Pro 4

Overall, this is an easy app to navigate and looks pretty clean. The controls are all laid out and make sense and once you get things dialed in, you’re done. But you can always go back and change things if you like.

Sound/Call Quality

The out-of-the-box sound of the EarFun Air Pro 4 TWS earbuds leans towards the bass side. It’s more bass than I normally like, but it’s not out of control and doesn’t color the mids and highs too badly. You can use the EQ to adjust this to an extent.

I think most users will be fine with the default EQ, and most will never change it. If you want more bass, not sure why you would, you can do that too. Audiophiles will probably not make these the “go-to earbuds,” but they are good in a pinch for those folks as well.

The ANC works well for what you pay for the EarFun Air Pro 4 and if you fit them properly, the passive noise-cancelling from the ear tips helps tons. Transparency Mode also works, though I never use it. Taking calls is simple enough and the sound is good, the mics work well with no complaints from the caller on the other end.

Overall, for less than eighty bucks, the sound quality of the EarFun Air Pro 4 is excellent and average users will appreciate it.

Battery Life

I always use my earbuds and headphones with ANC on, and I did the same with the EarFun Air Pro 4. ANC on and volumes generally between 40 and 60. I had no issue getting almost 8 hours of playtime on a single charge and then the rest of the juice in the charge case. The advertised numbers are spot on. Of course, battery life is going to vary between users. It is very subjective and will depend on what settings and volumes you use. But I think most users will be happy with battery life.

Price/Value

The EarFun Air Pro 4 comes in at a very affordable seventy-nine dollars. Value isn’t just about price, but about what that price gives you in return. The value is here, these are simply really amazing earbuds for the asking price. You can find these on Amazon for even less than the MSRP, from time to time, so check them out too.

Wrap Up
