Quick take:

  • It will be available through the Bitget Wallet App and supports real-time funding via on-chain swaps and deposits.
  • The card can be used at both physical and online merchants once linked to a mobile wallet.
  • It also comes with optional incentives, including transaction-based rewards, yield on idle balances in the wallet, and one-time bonuses for completing identity verification.

Bitget Wallet has launched a zero-fee crypto card powered by Mastercard and infrastructure provider Immersve. The card allows users to make payments directly from their crypto wallets at more than 150 million merchants that accept Mastercard globally.

Users can apply for the card digitally, then link it to their mobile wallets, allowing them to make payments at both physical and digital stores. It will initially be rolled out in the UK and the EU, before expanding to Latin America, Australia, and New Zealand in the coming months.

The card will be available through the Bitcoin Wallet App and supports real-time funding via on-chain swaps and deposits, according to the joint announcement shared with NFTgators.

It comes with optional incentives, including transaction-based rewards, yield on idle balances in the wallet, and one-time bonuses for completing identity verification.

The launch comes amid the crypto payments buzz driven by the rapid adoption of stablecoins. The move also aligns with Mastercard’s goal of using its Digital First technology to bridge traditional finance with crypto.

The global payments giant has established multiple partnerships with leading crypto companies as part of the campaign to “bring digital assets closer to mainstream utility.”

Commenting on the announcement, Scott Abrahams, executive vice president, Global Partnerships at Mastercard, said in a statement: “Digital wallets are quickly becoming as ubiquitous as email addresses. At Mastercard, we’re committed to working with innovative companies like Bitget Wallet and Immersve to make crypto transactions simple, secure, and accessible at scale.”

Jamie Elkaleh, CMO at Bitget Wallet, commented: “Crypto payments should be as seamless and secure as traditional transactions. With this partnership, Bitget Wallet users can now pay with crypto anywhere Mastercard is accepted. We’re seeing massive demand for real-world crypto utility, and this collaboration with Mastercard and Immersve provides the infrastructure to make that vision a reality.”
