Chainlink CCIP Finally Launches on Hedera HBAR Testnet

Chainlink has announced its latest blockchain expansions with its Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol coming to Hedera HBAR’s testnet, bringing new use cases.

Chainlink Data Streams were also on the move to new networks with BNB Chain, Hyperliquid, and MegaETH gaining Data Streams from the leading Oracle network.

CCIP integrations on Hedera will be game-changing for Hedera Hashgraph’s decentralized ecosystem and exchanges such as SaucerSwap. Let’s find out what it all means for the network.

Chainlink x HBAR: A partnership for innovation

Chainlink’s cross-chain interoperability protocol has been a long time coming for Hedera after the two companies formed a partnership to bring data feeds and CCIP to Hedera in October 2024.

LINK Data Streams were introduced to Hedera in December 2024, 2 months after the HBAR x Chainlink announcement was made in October.

With the partnership realizing itself, Chainlink’s CCIP is finally on Hedera testnet, allowing developers and Hedera DeFi to test out one of Chainlink’s most innovative, adaptable protocols allowing for greater cross-chain interoperability.

Chainlink CCIP arrives to Hedera HBAR, Cronos and more

The HBAR Foundation has made it known that 2025 will be the year that DeFi on HBAR is pushed with funding, grants, and partnerships being made to incentivize developers from other networks to come to HBAR.

At its core, Chainlink’s cross-chain interoperability protocol allows smart contracts from different blockchains to communicate with each other. On-chain and off-chain data can be transmitted between totally different networks using CCIP without third-party bridges.

CCIP-enabled networks are able to commit to cross-chain swaps and shared decentralized financial applications. An example would be Hedera being able to communicate and share data with Ethereum, Avalanche, Celo, and Base, networks fully integrated with CCIP.

DeFi connectivity is a key stepping stone to building a fruitful and active decentralized landscape. Interoperability also allows for greater liquidity, shared network apps, communities, and streamlined ways for institutions to be onboarded.

Cross-chain interoperability to change Hedera DeFi

For DeFi on HBAR, CCIP will allow SaucerSwap, Hedera’s leading decentralized protocol and exchange, to introduce cross-chain swaps and liquidity pools to Hedera, letting users provide liquidity with tokens not native to HBAR’s network.

Interoperability will greatly boost SaucerSwap’s TVL (Total value locked) and introduce new features where traders can bridge Ethereum assets into HBAR.

For institutional, compliant players, bringing CCIP onto Hedera’s mainnet will allow off-chain data to be brought on-chain much easier and unlock doors to greater liquidity for tokenized real-world assets.

In 2025 now that the HBAR Foundaiton’s DeFi goals have been laid out, traders can see how CCIP will benefit DeFi on the network and the various ways the integration will be used, ushering HBAR into a fine-tuned DeFi era that’s competitive with other networks.
