The ECOVACS DEEBOT X8 PRO OMNI was introduced at CES 2025, and it got a lot of attention. Not only did this new vacuum and mop system look fantastic, but it promised to do the job of cleaning your floors even better than before. With all the tricks of the previous generation, the X8 PRO OMNI took it up a few notches and delivers a better experience than ever before.

The biggest thing is to know that, no matter what brand you purchase, you will need to tidy up some details after. The X8 PRO OMNI is not a miracle worker, and you will need to get the edges and tight spaces of your floor by hand. If you’re going into this expecting the robot to do it all, you will be let down.

Design
The design of the X8 PRO OMNI is elegant and sleek. The black and gold color scheme is very cool, though I will admit, I prefer white because the black tends to show more dust. But still, combined with the colors and the frosted plastic on the tanks, this thing looks great.
The tanks are easy to remove, empty and fill. The charging station is not too big and won’t take up a lot of space, and everything is self-contained. The cleaning solution container is inside the door, as is the dust bin bag.
I like that the X8 PRO OMNI ramp that helps the robot up into the charging station isn’t too long. Some robots have long ramps that take up too much space.
The robot itself looks about the same as most of its cousins. Round and taller than I’d like. It’s a bit too tall to fit under my cabinets, but this is just about the same case with all robot vacuums. So it’s not a knock against the X8 PRO OMNI, it’s just one of the limitations of most vacuums.
The roller is easy to clean, and the dust bin is simple to remove and empty if needed. You shouldn’t need to because the system will suck it into the main station, and you can empty that portion instead. The wheels on this robot are massive and have a very nice suspension. They roll over just about everything, and they are flexible enough to have some play. I think these are some of the best wheels I’ve seen on a robot.
Overall, the X8 PRO OMNI is a really nice-looking system and I like the color scheme, though you will see dust build up much sooner than a white color.
Ease of Use and Setup
The X8 PRO OMNI is easy to use and setup. Once you have it unpacked, just download the app, sign up for an account, turn on the X8 PRO OMNI and open the app. Find your model and click to add a device. At this point, the app will recognize the robot and then direct you to connect it to Wi-Fi. Follow that process and you’re set.
I would allow it to charge fully before first use and then use it. But once you get through the app instructions, it is mostly ready to use. The only other setup is filling the water tank, removing all the packing, and making sure you’ve placed the main unit in a place that’s easy for the robot to get to.
Overall, ECOVACS makes the setup and ease of use of the X8 PRO OMNI a breeze. This is simple and maybe the hardest part, for some, will be getting it connected to the network.
App/Software
When your X8 PRO OMNI is fully charged and ready to go, you’ll open the app and allow it to map your space first. Don’t do a mop or vacuum right away. Have it map your space so that it can learn and make your experience more streamlined.
The mapping system works fine, it’s about on par with other vacs I’ve used. There are times you may need to adjust the boundaries manually or edit some areas, but it mostly does an impressive job. You can add your own boundaries as well. If you don’t want the robot to vacuum or mop a certain area, you can outline that in the map and exclude it.
There are a ton of features in the X8 PRO OMNI app. Everything from controlling water flow, to the amount of suction, and even voice control and smart assistant features. There is also a built-in camera so you can watch your robot clean, or you can even use it as a security sentry when you’re away from home. You can access the camera and have the robot patrol, and you can see what’s happening in your home.
Overall, the app is so feature rich that I don’t think you’ll get to use every single feature. There are some features you just won’t use, but they are there. The mapping system was great and it learns over time. After four or five runs, the system becomes more efficient in cleaning and managing time.
Performance/Battery
Robot vacuums have been a hit-and-miss when it comes to battery life. From my past experience, most of them last just over an hour before they need to recharge. The X8 PRO OMNI has an advertised battery life of 200 minutes, this is going to vary by user. I wasn’t able to get 200 minutes of battery life, but I did get an outstanding average of 145 minutes of battery life.
The X8 PRO OMNI is the best performing robot vacuum, in terms of battery life, that I’ve ever used. I am certain this is because of improvements in battery technology, but man, this thing was able to do my entire floor without ever needing to go and recharge. I call that a win. I think ECOVACS Intelligent Path Planning has some to do with better battery life, here’s what that’s about.
The efficient path planning allows DEEBOT to intelligently choose the most logical cleaning path and direction for each segment, to minimize the number of turns and avoid inefficient acceleration or deceleration processes during cleaning.
In terms of performance in cleaning floors, excellent. The biggest highlight is what ECOVACS calls TruEdge cleaning. The mop roller on the bottom of the X8 PRO OMNI will actually extend out beyond the side of the robot so that it can reach the edges easier. Is it perfect? No, but no robot vacuum and mop is. But damn, it does the best job of cleaning the edges it can reach better than any other robot I’ve used.
The rotating brush also performs this action so that it can sweep up as much debris into the vacuum as possible and with 18,000 Pa in suction power, it does a fantastic job of sucking things up. There are those minor annoyances of any robot vacuum, sometimes that suction power can blow some dust away from the vacuum, and it gets blown on to the clean part of the floor. This isn’t unique here, it happens with all robot vacuums. Here’s what ECOVACS says about TruEdge 2.0.
TruEdge 2.0 allows the roller mop to extend dynamically during edge cleaning to maximize the coverage at edges and corners. Furthermore, combined with an enhanced sensory algorithm and brand new TruEdge 3D Edge Sensor, the continuously variable roller mop can adapt to different types of edges and turns to precisely avoid collision while remaining close to edges. In addition, the side brush automatically extends to reach the blind spot on internal corners to achieve 100% coverage*.
The company uses what it calls an OZMO Roller for mopping, and the charging station has a self-cleaning mechanism that cleans the X8 PRO OMNI OZMO Roller and also empties the dust bin. Here’s what ECOVACS says about the OZMO.
The DEEBOT X8 PRO OMNI features the OZMO ROLLER Instant Self-Washing Mopping Technology to provide a more powerful mopping experience to effectively scrub and remove stains adhered to the floor. An array of 16 clean water nozzles delivers fresh water back to the mop to keep the mop renewed after the wastewater is scraped off. With a speed of 200 RPM, this equates to 200 high-speed scrubbing and rinsing actions per minute, allowing the mop to effectively prevent streaks and cross-contamination. With a smaller contact area, the mop contains more concentrated pressure to achieve a significant cleaning effect on stains.
One of the better features is ZeroTangle. This isn’t unique to the X8 PRO OMNI, as many other brands and other ECOVACS devices have used it. But it is improving. Tangling of hair in the roller was always an issue for me in past vacuums but the X8 PRO OMNI seems to perform even better than past devices. Here’s what ECOVACS says about ZeroTangle 2.0.
The DEEBOT X8 PRO OMNI comes with the outstanding ZeroTangle 2.0 featuring 3V Anti-Tangle Technology. The 45° V-shaped angle bristle design cleverly prevents hair from getting stuck deep in the bristle gaps. The V-shaped spiral brush collects hair in the middle, and the V-shaped comb teeth array smoothly untangles it. Enjoy efficient suction, easy maintenance, and flawlessly clean floors with the DEEBOT X8.
One area the X8 PRO OMNI did an impressive job was in recognizing when a carpet started and ended. You can choose to vacuum everything first and then mop, or you can do both at the same time. I had no issues with wet carpets, the X8 PRO OMNI did an excellent job of knowing what was what. It also had no issues knowing when there were stairs, it knew exactly where the drop-off was and adjusted.
Overall, the X8 PRO OMNI did an excellent at mopping and vacuuming and has the best battery life I’ve seen on a robot system. It’s not perfect, it won’t get everything, and you will still need to break out a broom and mop to get into nooks, crannies, and corners. We’re not in a place where these robot systems have enough dexterity to get all of it. You have to put some work in too, LOL.
Price/Value
The X8 PRO OMNI isn’t cheap, but there are sales on Amazon that bring the price down significantly. While the price is high, the value is here. The battery life on this vacuum is fantastic! This is one of the best batteries I’ve ever experienced on a robot vacuum. There are other ECOVACS options that are more affordable, but you won’t get the same feature set.
