Initially starting with just eleven voices, ElevenLabs has now grown its marketplace to host over 2,000 voices, a feat achieved by leveraging Stripe’s billing solutions to scale efficiently.
The company’s platform, which was initially set up by a single engineer, has utilized Stripe Billing to enable seamless subscription services and introduce usage-based pricing. This flexibility has been crucial for ElevenLabs, allowing it to cater to a diverse user base and meet the growing demand for a wide array of voices.
ElevenLabs’ voice marketplace is not limited to synthetic models. It includes real voice clones covering various accents, languages, and dialects, providing users with a diverse, rights-cleared selection. This variety has attracted hundreds of thousands of users, including prominent enterprises such as Perplexity, Time Magazine, and Bertelsmann.
The partnership with Stripe has not only facilitated user growth but has also enabled ElevenLabs to pay out $3 million to contributors—talented actors and ordinary individuals—who have enriched the platform with their voices. The company’s self-serve platform supports a vast number of users, helping it to maintain and grow its global presence in the AI voice industry.
