FydeOS Strips Google Out Of ChromeOS, For Better Privacy

If you’re looking for an operating system that’s lightweight, simple to use, is updated regularly and is free to download and use, FydeOS may be one to consider. It’s been a heck of a weekend where I live. We’ve had several inches of rain that’s caused a ton of flooding and damage here and the surrounding area. So today I was trying to relax and dropped into a zombie zone of watching oddball videos when I ran across one for FydeOS.

Estimated reading time: 3 minutes

I am not one for using only one operating system, I tend to jump between Windows 11, macOS, and Linux. So when I found FydeOS and heard that it was basically ChromeOS, without the Google eyes. I had to look into it. Now, I don’t have time to actually set this up and use it, but from what I read and watched. This operating system looks legit, and you can install it on almost any hardware you might have lying around.

What is FydeOS?

I wasn’t planning on writing anything today, but I just had to jump on here and let you guys know, many of you already probably know, about this operating system. Here’s a quick video of what it actually is.

It’s interesting how we find things late sometimes. The operating system is already on version 20 and this is the first I’ve heard of it.

The company even has its own tablet computer that can be purchased for around seven hundred US dollars. It, of course, runs FydeOS and is called Fydetab Duo. You don’t have to buy their hardware though, you can install the operating system on various devices from tablet computers to desktops.

The process of installing seems pretty straightforward and very similar to a Linux distro. Download the image from the website, create a bootable USB drive, and install on your computer. I do believe you can also just use it from the USB drive if you just want to test it out. You might take a look at the company’s facts and instructions first.

I have enough on my plate as it is, so I probably won’t get to installing this on anything. But, if the company is reading this and wants to send a Fydetab Duo to me for review. I would gladly do that. For now, please let me know if you guys have tried this or intend to try this and tell me what it’s like. We will talk to you, on the other side!
