Huawei’s latest smartphone, the Pura X, looks weird as hell, but I’m very intrigued. Like all Huawei smartphones, it won’t come to Canada; it’ll probably never even make it out of Asia, but it’s still worth discussing.
This flip-style folding (similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Motorola Razr) has a strange 16:10 aspect ratio, making it very wide.
The handset sports a 3.5-inch panel with a 980 x 980 resolution on the outside and a 6.3-inch internal screen with a 2120 x 1320 pixel resolution on the inside. There’s also a 50-megapixel primary shooter with OIS, a 40-megapixel ultra-wide sensor, and an 8-megapixel with 3.5x optical zoom. There’s also a 10.7-megapixel selfie shooter.
It also has 12GB of RAM, up to 512GB of storage, a 4,720mAh battery, and Harmony OS. So, even if you managed to get this handset, it’ll have a reasonably weird operating system for people who are used to Android or iOS.
If you live in or are visiting China, the Pura X starts at RMB 7,499 (roughly CAD 1481.27).
