Is Kroger open on the 4th of July?

July 4th is the day we get decked out in our most patriotic colors and celebrate Brexit 1776 with beer and a cookout.

This year, the 4th of July is on a Friday, which could make it even more of a party — it is a three-day weekend for many people.

But what happens if you realize mid-afternoon that you’re a little low on the BBQ fixins and the IPA and need to make a dash to the grocery store?

Banks and federal offices are closed, including U.S. Post Office locations and the stock market. But some retailers choose to stay open, albeit with limited hours.

Trader Joe’s for example, will close most locations at 5:00.

There’s nothing worse than showing up to your go-to grocery store or other retailer, only to find it’s closed for the day.

So whether you have a day off from work and are planning on a midweek grocery run to stock up on staples, or you just need to grab a few things because you’re having friends over for dinner, you might be heading to your local Kroger (KR) .

If Kroger is your go-to grocery store, you should find most stores are open normal hours on July 4, 2025.

Many retailers give their employees holidays off, or choose to pay them extra for working on a holiday. Since some Kroger locations are part of a union, only some employees get bonus wages for working on Independence Day.

Kroger is open normal hours on July 4th. For most locations, that means doors open at 6 a.m and close at 11 p.m.

Of course, it’s always a good idea to check your local store hours just in case, which you can do on the company’s website.
