OpenAI has announced that all users can shop from ChatGPT Search, allowing them to search for a product, compare options, and buy the products in ChatGPT. The press release says that this includes fashion, beauty, home goods, and electronics and that it is looking to expand to more categories later.
OpenAI says that these search results are not ads. These updates are available in the 4o model and are rolling out to ChatGPT Plus, Pro, and Free users.
Additionally, OpenAI has introduced search in WhatsApp that lets users send a WhatsApp message to ChatGPT.
Aside from this update, OpenAI recently announced that its free ChatGPT users can access the Deep Research tool without needing to pay for it. The company will also expand the tool’s limits for all users through a lightweight version powered by its o4-mini model.
ChatGPT received over 52 times more visitors than Microsoft Copilot did in February 2025. According to the report, ChatGPT saw 5.2 billion visits worldwide that month, with Copilot seeing only 98.9 million monthly visitors.
