Podcast: Shure at 100 – Untold Stories From the Audio Vault

Today on April 25, 2025 Shure celebrates the company’s 100th Anniversary, and we take a deep dive into the company’s 100 year history with resident historian, and nearly longest tenured employee (since 1976), Michael Pettersen.

Michael recounts the various jobs he held, company milestones, as well as his time that intersected with its founder, Sidney N. Shure.

From humble beginnings selling radio parts in Chicago, Shure is an American entrepreneurial success story as well as an innovator in sound reproduction.

Shure is best known for their microphones. In fact, their mics have become so iconic that when we think of a microphone, it’s most likely a Shure.

Shure remains a private company to this day, headquartered in Chicago, Illinois.

On the Panel:

  • Brian Mitchell, eCoustics Founder & CEO (on Shure MV7 mic)
  • Mitch Anderson, eCoustics Podcast Producer (on vintage Shure Unidyne III mic)
  • Michael Petterson, Shure Director of Corporate History
