Public Mobile plans as of June 18, 2025.
Public’s price changes come after Freedom Mobile adjusted a credit it applies to plans for customers who bring their own phone. Freedom decreased the credit from $4 to $3, effectively raising the cost of several plans by $1/mo.
Now Public has followed suit with its plans, matching prices for similar Freedom plans. For example, both carriers now offer a $36/60GB 5G Canada/U.S./Mexico plan.
While $1/mo may not sound like much of an increase, the slow drip of price hikes eventually adds up. This is especially true in Canada, where wireless providers tend to adjust pricing in lockstep. Freedom’s price increase opened the door for Public to raise its prices. And we just saw Virgin Plus and Koodo increase the prices of their respective 60GB plans.
Here’s hoping these shifts don’t spark further price hikes.
