In a recent press conference held by Samsung after the Galaxy Unpacked event on July 9, Tae-moon Roh, the acting head of Samsung’s Device Expertise division, announced the status of the long-rumoured tri-fold phone, revealing that it’s much further along than expected.
“I expect we will be able to launch the tri-fold phone within this year,” said Roh.”We are working hard on a tri-fold smartphone with the goal of launching it at the end of this year. We are now focusing on perfecting the product and its usability.”
Roh concluded by dismissing rumours regarding the name of the new tri-fold device, stating that it was still undecided and would be finalized as the device neared completion.
This information came as a shock to many, as throughout the entire Galaxy Unpacked event, many upcoming devices, like the Galaxy Watch 8 and the Galaxy Z Flip 7, were revealed. However, amidst all these revelations, there was no new information about the long-rumoured tri-fold phone, leaving those interested in learning more about it disappointed.
