Videotron is announcing a major expansion to GIGA Internet service to more than 350,000 households across Quebec. This includes people in Quebec City, Outaouais, Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean, Hautes Laurentides and MRC de Rivière‐du‐Loup areas.
GIGA Internet offers multiple devices simultaneously, which is designed for customers who want faster speeds. The major roll-out, almost all Videotron customers now have access to download speeds of up to 940Mbps. On top of that, Videotron implemented new latency management technoloy to its network so customers can get smoother online experience, even during periods of peak network traffic.
“This expansion demonstrates our commitment to investing in state‐of‐the‐art telecommunications
infrastructure in order to bring Quebecers the most advanced technologies,” said Jean B. Péladeau, senior vice president and chief marketing officer of Videotron, in a press statement. “Videotron GIGA Internet meets the growing needs of families and businesses that simultaneously use multiple connected devices and increasingly bandwidth‐hungry applications.”
Recently, Videotron sued Rogers for $91 million over breach in contracts related to the sale of Freedom Mobile.
