Why should budding adtech experts explore a career at IAS?

We spoke with some employees at Integral Ad Science to find out what they like about their roles.

The adtech space is an exciting, ever-changing and evolving sector, with a wide range of opportunities for professionals looking to have an impact. Skills such as creativity, technical proficiency, adaptability and large-scale project management are just some of the attributes suited to experts in this field.

As the industry continues to grow, it is becoming increasingly necessary to incorporate people from across the STEM spectrum who can contribute their diverse skills to a rapidly advancing and modernised profession. Integral Ad Science, which makes tech for media platforms, advertisers and publishers for tracking and data optimisation, was founded in New York in 2009 and since then has become a major contributor to the adtech space.

We spoke with industry experts at Integral Ad Science (IAS) to discover what makes someone suited to a career at IAS, why it is an ideal environment to harness skills and how applicants or professionals can make themselves visible within the organisation.

As explained by Bríd McMahon, the country manager for IAS Ireland, there are numerous opportunities for skilled professionals to find their niche in areas such as data science, software engineering, technical account management, finance, application security and talent acquisition, to name a few.

“The advice I would give to somebody starting out in their tech career,” she told SiliconRepublic.com, “is really knowing your strengths and how to leverage them. Whether that is analytical thinking, problem-solving, technical proficiency, or relationship management, really understand what makes you stand out from the crowd and have those examples ready to speak to those experiences.”

Why Integral Ad Science?

For Paulo da Costa, a senior staff data scientist, his position at IAS has given him the opportunity to network with like-minded and friendly professionals, as well as the chance to engage in mentorship as he enables others to grow their own careers, specifically in the realm of AI and machine learning.

“I also enjoy tackling hard problems and difficult problems that we face here,” he said. “The third most important aspect that I enjoy is the fact that I can have an impact, or at least see the impact of the work that we do in production and how that can affect the business as well.”

This is a sentiment shared by his colleague and technical account manager Carrie Mackenzie who elaborated upon the skills crucial to personal and professional development within IAS.

“One of the most important skills in order to be successful as a technical account manager here at IAS is that you have to have a natural curiosity towards the technology of our products,” said Mackenzie. “So you have to keep asking yourself questions as to how the products work and how can I resolve certain technical issues and I believe this natural curiosity doesn’t only benefit me and my career growth, it also benefits the customer.”
